Jimmy Kimmel‘s own talk show. A re-form of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? A series of live specials which is called Live in Front of a Studio Audience.
If ABC needs a TV thing which needs a host, they go to none other than Jimmy Kimmel. In the case like: Emmy Awards 2020, honoring the best one in television, have been announced, and with no host after 2019, ABC is dipping back into the deep Kimmel well. He’s hosting the program now.
“We know Jimmy Kimmel will deliver a uniquely entertaining, funny and moving Primetime Emmys show,” said in a statement by Karey Burke, the president of ABC Entertainment. He also said that, Jimmy is a real master of ceremonies who glorifies this industry and its people; and just as he has done with his own show over the past few months, he will handle this momentous event nicely with humor and heart, and bring some desired joy and optimism to our television colleagues and viewers at home. Burke definitely agree about Jimmy’s stylings that are “much-needed,” particularly when compared to some of the mishaps of the 2019 ceremony.
Kimmel himself had an existential comment on his own hosting duties: “I don’t know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this, but we are doing it and I am hosting it.”
The thing is…. he brings up a fair point ! Was there even a television series or season during a global pandemic? Is it safe enough to produce such a spectacle as a live awards show? when there are so many bigger fishes to fry, is it a piece of distracting pablum for the masses? These are the questions that no one seems to know how to answer just yet.
But, in Burkes points of view, Kimmel’s program of his “at home” versions have continued to delight and keep him sane and active for the daily struggles ahead. If Jimmys’ duties about hosting Emmys show he doesn’t know how they will do can do the same, Godspeed.
The 2020 Emmys live show will air 20th September, 2020 on ABC. To know more about Kimmel, check out Tom Holland‘s delightful appearance.
